25 Years Later: Remembering September 11, 2001

There are certain days in history when you remember exactly where you were when everything changed.

For me, September 11, 2001, is one of those days.

I was in 7th grade. I remember them bringing a TV into our classroom, and we watched as everything unfolded. At that age, I don’t think any of us fully understood what we were seeing or how much that day would change our country and the world.

But I remember.

Now, 25 years later, that memory is still there.

Today isn’t about business, vacations, flights, or where we’re traveling next. It’s simply a day to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families whose lives changed forever, the first responders who ran toward danger, and everyone impacted by the events of September 11, 2001.

As someone who works in travel today, I also think about how much the way we travel changed after 9/11. For many of us who were kids at the time, the airport and travel experience we know today is completely different from what existed before that day.

September 11 is a reminder of just how quickly life can change.

So today, I’m taking a moment to remember those who never made it home, honor those who stepped up to help, and think about the families who have carried their loss for the past 25 years.
