Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness leave the biggest impact.

Before I left for the ALG Vacations Kindness Conference, I made a promise to myself.

I wanted to be fully present.

I wanted to soak in every conversation, every speaker, every lesson, and every moment without worrying about everything happening back home.

In the middle of all the planning, though, I completely forgot one thing.

Josh’s airport transfers.

When I realized it, my heart sank. Between everything that had been happening with my dad after his stroke and the whirlwind of the last few weeks, it felt like one more thing I had overlooked.

Thankfully, the incredible Amstar team was on-site throughout the conference. I knew I had until 1:00 p.m. on the last day to book Josh’s airport transfers. But we were at the farewell pool party, celebrating an unforgettable week together, laughing, taking pictures, and soaking in every last moment. I had promised myself I would stay present, so I did.

When I finally made my way over, I was simply hoping they could help me book a last-minute transfer from Cancun International Airport to the Playa del Carmen ferry terminal for our trip to Cozumel.

Instead, they surprised me.

They gifted Josh and me round-trip private airport transfers.

I almost cried.

To someone else, it may have looked like a simple ride.

To me, it was one less thing to worry about during one of the hardest seasons of my life.

That simple act of kindness reminded me that people truly care.
