Some experiences change the way you see the world.
This past week was one of them.
A friend told me this conference would be life-changing. I smiled and thought, “We’ll see.” Well… they were right.
I came home with a full heart, lifelong friendships, and a new perspective on kindness, connection, and myself.
The Kindness Conference was so much more than a retreat. It was more than giving back. It was a reminder that there is still so much good in this world if we’re willing to slow down long enough to see it.
The speakers were incredible. We laughed until our stomachs hurt, cried together, danced, sang, reflected, and grew. Every story shared left a mark, and every person in that room had something to teach me. It was truly one of the best experiences of my life, and I’m so grateful I said yes.
Many of you know how nervous I was about leaving my dad after his stroke. I almost didn’t go. But every single day someone checked in on me. Someone gave me a hug. Someone prayed for my dad. Those simple acts of kindness reminded me that I wasn’t carrying everything alone.
The conversations weren’t small talk. They were real. They were honest. They were the kind of conversations that remind you we’re all walking through something, and sometimes the greatest gift we can give another person is simply being present.
So today, I have one small favor to ask.
Text a friend you haven’t talked to in a while and simply say, “You’re doing great.”
Invite someone to coffee. Look them in the eyes and ask, “How are you… really?” Then stay long enough to hear the answer.
You never know how much someone needs to feel seen.
I truly understand now why every one of us was nominated. We were brought together for a reason, and I know each of us left a little different than when we arrived.
To the person who nominated me, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You gave me a gift I’ll carry with me forever. I’m walking through this world brighter because of you.
And thank you, ALG Vacations, for the incredible honor of being part of the Kindness Conference. Thank you for investing in people, creating a space where kindness could flourish, and reminding all of us that the smallest acts can create the biggest ripple effects.
As the owner of Karismatic Adventures, I spend my days helping people explore the world. This week reminded me that sometimes the most meaningful journey isn’t about where you go—it’s about who you become along the way.
If my experience inspires just one person to choose kindness today, then that ripple continues.
Be the person who sends the text.
Be the person who gives the hug.
Be the person who asks, “How are you… really?”
The world needs more of that.
