The Best Birthday Gifts Don’t Come in a Box

I couldn’t tell you what I got for my birthday five years ago.

But I can tell you exactly where I was.

I’ve always believed birthdays are about making memories, not collecting things. Long after the presents are forgotten, it’s the experiences that stay with us.

This year was one I’ll never forget.

After my work trip in Mexico, Josh flew down to meet me, and together we crossed a huge dream off our bucket list—we swam with whale sharks.

Watching the largest fish in the world glide effortlessly through the crystal-clear water was one of those moments that makes everything else fade away. I remember looking over at Josh and thinking, “This… this is exactly how I want to celebrate another year.”

One of my favorite things about our marriage is how much we genuinely love spending time together. Whether we’re scuba diving, exploring a new destination, trying local food, or simply watching a sunset, we’re always making memories we’ll talk about for years.

Travel has taught me that there will always be another reason to wait. Another bill. Another busy season. Another excuse.

But there won’t always be another chance to experience today.

As I celebrate 37, I’m not wishing for more things.

I’m wishing for more adventures.
More scuba dives.
More countries.
More sunsets.
More laughter.
More moments that take my breath away.
More time with the people I love.

And somehow, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. Today is also World Snorkeling Day! 🤿🐋 It’s only fitting that the way we experienced those incredible whale sharks was by snorkeling alongside them in the beautiful waters of Mexico. I’d call that a birthday win!

Because years from now, I won’t remember what was inside a gift bag.

I’ll remember floating beside whale sharks in the warm waters of Mexico with my best friend.

Here’s to 37.
To the adventures.
To the love.
To the future.

Those are the gifts I’ll treasure forever.
