Reason #3,543 to Use a Travel Agent: The Case of the Missing Alaska Cruise Luggage 🧳🚢

Do you really need a travel agent for a cruise?

Well… let me tell you what happened to my clients before their 10-day Holland America Alaska cruise. 👀

Saturday morning, my clients left Omaha and headed to Vancouver to celebrate their 10-year anniversary with an AMAZING Alaska cruise. 🏔️🚢❤️

Their ship wasn’t sailing until Sunday afternoon, and they did exactly what I recommend to my cruise clients:

FLY IN EARLY. 👏🏾

I always recommend arriving at least one day before your cruise, and sometimes two days early depending on the destination and itinerary.

Why?

Because airlines are gonna airline. 😂

Flights get delayed. Connections get missed. Weather happens. And sometimes… your luggage decides it would like to take its own vacation.

My clients arrived in Vancouver Saturday, headed to baggage claim and waited.

And waited.

No bag. 😩

They spoke with the baggage desk at the airport but weren’t able to get much information.

Then I got a text:

“Long shot, but Air Canada doesn’t have one of our bags. Any way you can help?”

ME?!

Sitting back in Nebraska?!

ABSOLUTELY. 😂

This is where having a travel advisor can make a difference.

I started making calls, messaging the airlines and tracking down whatever information I could find.

Within about an hour, we had a game plan.

The missing bag was still in Denver and was scheduled to be placed on the first flight to Vancouver Sunday morning.

Expected arrival: around 11:30 AM.

Cruise departure: 4:00 PM.

😳😳😳

Okayyyyy… we have a plan.

But now the question was:

Would the bag actually make it?!

Sunday morning came, and eventually the airline contacted my travelers with their plan as well. But the best part for me was that Saturday night, I had already been able to give my clients some answers and at least a little peace of mind instead of them spending their entire evening wondering where their luggage was.

And then…

Around 12:30 PM Sunday, I got the text I had been waiting for:

“WE HAVE OUR BAG!”

🙌🏾🧳🚢

YESSSSS!

Bag reunited with its owner. Anniversary cruise saved from the emergency shopping spree. 😂 And my clients were able to board their Holland America Alaska cruise and start celebrating 10 years of marriage.

And I want to make one thing VERY clear:

My clients did everything right.

They flew into Vancouver the day before their cruise.

They gave themselves extra time.

They checked with the airline.

Sometimes travel simply doesn’t go exactly according to plan.

That’s why one of my biggest goals at Karismatic Adventures LLC is stress-free travel.

Does that mean nothing will ever go wrong?

Nope. I wish I had that kind of power. 😂

It means when something DOES happen, you don’t necessarily have to figure it all out by yourself.

I’m an Omaha travel advisor, but my job doesn’t stop when my clients leave Nebraska. If you’re in Vancouver looking for luggage, in Mexico trying to figure out a transfer, or somewhere in the Caribbean wondering what happened to your reservation, I’m still here.

I can’t promise I can magically fix every travel hiccup.

But I can promise I’m going to do my best to help.

And THAT is reason #3,543 to use a travel agent. 😉

So tell me:

Do you fly in a day early before a cruise, or have you been risking the same-day flight? 👀🚢

And more importantly… do you have a travel agent you can text when things go sideways?

If not, I’d love to be that person for you.

Whether you’re planning an Alaska cruise, Caribbean cruise, anniversary trip, honeymoon, group cruise, or your first cruise ever, Karismatic Adventures LLC can help you plan it from beginning to end.

How can I assist with your travel needs? Let’s chat. ✈️🌎🚢
